Leaded Brass

Leaded Brass

Lead improves the machinability of brass while also enhancing its strength and corrosion resistance. The presence of lead helps seal shrinkage pores within the metal, providing better pressure tightness.

Brass alloys can contain up to 3.5% lead and are generally classified as low-leaded, medium-leaded, or high-leaded depending on the lead content. Leaded brass is commonly used in the manufacturing of screws, valves, fittings, bearings, specialty fasteners, architectural hardware, and general-purpose machined components.
